S&P lowers Fannie, Freddie, others coupled to U.S.

  WASHINGTON – Standard & Poors Ratings Services on Monday downgraded the belief ratings of mortgage lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and other agencies linked to long-term U.S. debt. The agency in addition lowered the ratings for: fish farm lenders; long-term U.S. government-backed debt issued by 32 banks and trust unions; and three most important clearinghouses, which are used to accomplish trades of stocks, bonds and options.
